MDU were facing dynamic changes in the market, enhanced competition, and seeing new complexities in customer behaviours. The shareholders were looking for significant revenue growth over three years and appointed a new CEO and senior leadership team.
As a trusted partner, having previously worked successfully with MDU before, DWG were appointed to help facilitate the development of a new growth strategy.
The CEO had developed a top-level strategy which needed validation and wider ownership by the rest of the senior team, as well as translating into a feasible investment and delivery plan.
DWG worked collaboratively in a complimentary role to support the MDU strategy team on the strategy development process, providing:
Best-practice insights and optimisations to MDU’s existing strategy development process
Heavy-lifting support for insight driven strategic options preparation
‘Objective facilitation’ during a series of strategy workshops
Subject-matter experts in core areas of digital, data, technology and agile processes as and when required
The validation and buy-in to the top-level strategy was enabled through a series of integrated and DWG facilitated workshops.
Each workshop took a priority theme from the top-level strategy and provided critical insights, understanding and options for decision making.
By ongoing calibration and a final overall review workshop, the existing plan was optimised, bought into by all members of the senior team, and allowed for the development of the enabling investment and delivery plan.
The result was a suitable, feasible and integrated growth plan for the next three years.
MDU is now successfully executing against its growth plan in sales and marketing, operational processes and change approaches, new innovations, and enabling areas of technology, data, organisational shape and culture.
Revenues have grown significantly within the last year and MDU continue to take market-share from their competitors.
