Our Digital Positioning service is designed to increase the value of the business in the exit process by improving its digital capabilities and vision.

Working to the exit timetable, we add value by helping the business create a credible digital vision, strategy and roadmap. We then deliver priority activities that are achievable pre-exit, to maximise the organisation’s value. Any remaining parts of the strategy are incorporated into the information memorandum to form part of the organisation’s digital vision.

How it is Delivered

We deliver our solution based on four core principals; only do what is needed, achieve benefits fast, progress in a ‘planned and agile manner’ to pivot and iterate as needed, and design to the timeline available. It is delivered over 5 stages:

1. Initial Programme Governance & Delivery Framework

  • A top-level governance structure is implemented to quicken decision -making.

  • An initial programme framework is deployed to control all stages of the planning and improvement cycle – ensuring timescales are adhered to, and benefits are quickly delivered.

2. Digital Improvement & Speed of Resolution Analysis

  • An analysis of the business is conducted to identify areas where digital improvements can be made. Identified areas are then subject to a ‘speed of resolution’ analysis to aid the prioritisation process.
  • This stage may be shortened as necessary given the exit timeline to use a ‘full analysis’ or DWG’s ‘rapid digital maturity analysis’ technique.

3. Digital Positioning Strategy & Delivery Roadmap

  • Identified candidates are then subject to a cost-to-benefit and strategic-fit analysis. This further guides prioritisation, improvements to the business plan and clarity to the delivery roadmap.

  • Again, the breadth and depth of the approach are determined by the exit timeline.
  • Timelines are applied to form a digital improvement roadmap. Supported by critical success KPIs.

4. Integrated Delivery & Governance + Measurement & Iteration

  • Rapid programme organisation is adopted to deliver the digital improvement plan.

  • Central planning is initiated to control, de-risk and speed up the change process. Supported by meaningful internal communications to reduce fears and enable buy-in.

  • Delivery itself is conducted through ‘agile sprints’ and effective cross-functional working practices to deliver benefits quickly, while measured against critical-success KPIs to allow iteration and change as needed. Incorporating adaptability into the overall approach.

  • If time allows, work is carried out to ensure the business develops ‘critical change’ capabilities; allowing the digital programme to progress quickly and smoothly. If time doesn’t allow, this is built into the digital vision and planning post-exit as part of the business plan and investment memorandum.

5. Investment Memorandum Construction

  • As the organisation nears exit the investment memorandum is constructed to ensure the digital vision is clearly articulated, delivery successes are highlighted and produce an explanation of how the remaining activities on the digital roadmap will provide commercial benefits and support the business plan’s success.
  • Providing investors with clarity of the organisation’s digital vision and its plans to grow its digital maturity past exit.
