Alex leads Digital Work’s Business Acceleration practice. Dedicated to helping clients grow by transforming their sales and digital marketing.

Alex is a multi-lingual business creator and sales generator who has launched multiple digital businesses across Europe, Africa, and South America.

His key strengths are sales and business development at senior levels, combined with finance, marketing, and management.

He sold his first Anglo-French business in his early 20s, before helping to build and then run a 12-territory digital business, before its sale to Lagardère. Alex later co-founded Sponge, the UK’s leading mobile marketing agency.

As CEO and then Executive Chairman of Sponge, he developed the mobile strategy and solutions for brands as diverse McDonalds, Coca-Cola, Asda, Barclays and Auto Trader. Alex went on to co-found WiForia, the WiFi marketing company in 2014 – which he now chairs.

With a deep understanding of the impact of digital for retail and brands, Alex’s focus is helping accelerate the growth of companies in the martech space, both domestically and internationally, while providing pragmatic advice and guidance to those seeking to embrace a digital future.

Key achievements include:

  • Won £multi-million contracts across media, brand, and retail
  • Created and built Sponge – twice voted Mobile Agency of the Year by industry peers
  • Led negotiations for five industry exits including the sale of Sponge, which was highlighted by the FT as one of the best agency exits of 2006
  • In-demand conference speaker on digital/mobile/next five years across four continents
  • Four years as Chairman of the Mobile Marketing Association in the UK, Alex was also elected to the board of the Institute of Promotional Marketing for two years
